feed waste?

What has everyone come up with to combat wasted feed? It seems my birds throw more on the ground than they eat, way more.
I don't have any feed waste with my quail. ZERO. I cap the feeders at night so I'm not feeding mice, either. You can make something like this yourself.
I have used this concept to make all my feeders, works great with almost any left over plastic container. Chicks start with 1" PVC elbows in an old large, plastic peanut butter container, grow out has 2" elbows in the larger kitty litter buckets, layer flock has 3" elbows in a large plastic kitchen trash can. Little to no waste at all, easy to cap off at night if you have rodents, and my largest container holds a 50# bag of feed.

I just made a feeder for my new quail with the jar and elbow.
The quail refused to use until the cleaned out there little feeder. Now they are are trying to climb in it. They always look disgruntled when the realize they can't get to the big pile of food they can see.

I last posted that I just use the little plastic containers with 4 holes in the lid without issue. I now find they do waste food with all their running about, now that the quails are sexually mature. To combat the waste I've done what many of you have suggested (in other threads) and simply raised the containers and it's helped a lot.

This is my set up.
