hello friends,
i've got three easter eggers, one from a green egg and two from blue eggs. they are 5 weeks old.
i'd love your help in sexing them.

meet olive/oliver, who is very even in patterning, but has what i *think* is a three-row pea comb. our biggest bird.

this is blue, with a single row comb. a formerly silver head is feathering in darker.

this is robin, also with a single row pea-comb. there's a colour on robin's left wing that might be copper. or it might be salmon. there are one or two hidden white feathers in the wing.

what are your thoughts?

I think you should stick with the name "Oliver" for your first one posted. He has a bit of a red comb already from the pictures you posted. Blue looks like a pullet and Robin... is questionable, but I'm leaning towards a pullet. Still might be too early to tell.

In my opinion Blue looks to be a rooster and the others pullets. My 10 tractor supply EE pullets turned out to be 11 pullets and one rooster :D. I needed a good rooster so I'm glad about it. Some of my pullets combs are a bit bigger but they are for sure hens, sometimes it is so hard to tell. My rooster in his pre crowing days had feathers that turned downwards toward the ground that's when I knew he was a he lol, then the green feathers came in and longer tail feathers. He started crowing last week at 17 weeks old. I'm sure none of this helps lol, but good luck and let us know the sex of your chickens. ;)

Okay, I'm a little confused and somebody's gonna ask this - why not me? How did your 10 Tractor Supply EE pullets become 12 chickens - 11 pullets and one rooster? I'd love to be able to use that one on my husband next chick season.

(Totally tongue in cheek, I must add!)

Oops let's just say it's bad chicken math lol. How about 9 pullets and 1 rooster? Is that better lol...

Rats! I was really hoping it was really the other way! Had it all planned, too - "Honey, I just don't think we planned very well so instead of having 22 chickens can I go to Tractor Supply and buy 10 more so I can have 34?" Teehee Oh well, back to plan B.....

the friend i got these from was told by a breeder that her rooster is pure ameraucana, though she says she has no way of knowing, and the hens were easter eggers.
does that help?

With asking about the parents I was trying to see where the barring came from on that first bird, to see if there was any sex linkage at play that would help sex them accurately. Someone had to be barred to have a barred offspring, and hatcheries don't sell barred EE as a rule.
