So I managed to hatch out 4 peachicks yesterday!! Lost a few too but I am grateful for 4 and figure it is plenty for us; ) I didn't realize paper towels would be so slick and hard for them to walk on. So today I have band-aids on their legs and tape on their feet. I used electrical tape and it's not staying on well. I am going to get that rubber shelf liner for the brooder, can I cut it up and use it under their feet and put duck tape on top. Is duck tape too harsh... I wonder if I will be able to get it off? Any ideas? I just don't have tons of tape lying around but I'm going to the store today. If there is something that works for you I would love to know! They do look like they are doing better already.

They all seem to be colored differently so I am excited to post photos soon to see what folks think.

Use band aids or self sticking medical wrap for the spraddle brace, or even yarn... For the curled feet I use a duct tape bottom with a masking tape top... Yeah the duct tape is harsh but it's not all that bad to take off the feet if you go slow and I found it to be one of the easier way to set the toes... Or if you are going to the store get some medical bandage tape that should do both if you get the thicker stuff...

Okay, thank you! I thought I had some medical tape but can't find it anywhere. I will get the feet taped again.. .they are already walking with the band-aids and I think their feet look better just because they are walking on them. Thanks for the ideas!

Good luck, and yes sometimes paper towels can be slippery... I had a pea hatch a day early and I was in the process of redoing the brooders that day, so I tossed him in a temporary brooder with quilted paper towels for about an hour while I setup the permanent brooder, and wouldn't you know it that legs went spraddle... But, 48 hours later with a brace and some vitamin drops and they were back to normal...

I took off the falling off tape and their feet look perfect! They have viamins and electrolytes in their water. I am so happy they are doing so well, I am in love with them already. They are snuggling with my baby ducks.

All my peas are walking great today and their feet are fine! I got the rubber shelf liner and it is perfect. They are testing out their wings a little already. I'm not sure how long they are going to get along with the ducks though ; ) I have 6 ducklings so I will probably separate them. The peas like to peck at the duck bills and the ducks want to pull the pea's feathers!

I am so grateful for this website and all the people who share their experience. I don't know what I would do without it!

Good job getting them up and running
