Hi my name is Tricia, my daughter is Alexis, we are new to raising chickens. I bought home 2 cute yellow chicks to Alexis right before Easter this year and it went from there. We cannot stay out of the feed store and adding to our flock. This has been a true learning experience and we are up to a mixed flock of 19. Currently we are raising 7 for a relative and then the rest we will raise for eggs. Our next batch, we are gonna try to raise some meat birds.

Chickens are so addictive. I started out with 6, I have 75 now 15 more on the way.

Welcome to BYC, Tricia and Alexis! Very few BYC members are immune to "chicken math." If the Dallas in your heading refers to the Texas city, my wife and I were both raised about one hour northeast of Dallas. If you get Cornish cross meat birds don't wait to long to butcher them as they start developing health problems very early. We butchered ours at 8 weeks. What kind of chickens do you currently have?

Hello there and welcome to BYC!
