which one is a better layer and which is friendlier? Are both breeds good in mixed flocks?

The laying capabilities are pretty much the same or not that much different to be noted. Both are good in mixed flocks and if you cannot decide you can get both and see which one is better. I've raised both and if I had to pick one side I'd pick Delaware.

Depends on the quality of the birds you get. A good quality Delaware is hard to beat, both as an excellent layer and for personality - some believe that they have special ESP powers and a form of mind control

Seriously though they are friendly and curious.

Ok cool. Thank you

Ha ha! Didn't mean to freak you out, it is a joke with some other Del owners - they are quite bright compared to most chickens and seem to know how to get their way. I have a dozen incubating right now.

I decided probably no on the Delawares because I hear they are quite noisy. I'm getting a white rock instead

White Rocks can be quite noisy as well. If you like the columbian pattern of the Delawares and Columbian Wyandottes, you might want to consider a Light Brahma. Their lay rate is about the same as the Delawares and Wyandottes and they tend to be considerably quieter (of course there can always be an exception with any breed). With the exception of Silkies, Light Brahmas were probably the quietest breed (for chickens) that I ever had.

But I'm not a fan of the feathered feet

I have Wyandotte and love them. I have several color varieties and enjoy their personalities.
The hens make great mothers, are good layers of light cream to light brown colored eggs and make nice meat birds. The hens are friendly and get along well with children.
The cocks are great protectors of their hens. Mine free range when not in breeding pens. For meat birds, the extra cockerels make nice fryers.
As for noise, the cocks do like to compete by crowing, but the hens have a nice chatter and many sing the eggs song.
