BROODY HEN HELP

my hen has been broody for 3-5weeks and now im scared coz i JUST put some fertile eggs under her and everyones saying that she might die

im hoping she doesnt have worms or tape worms because i will cry and cry if she dies and possibly have to get an incubator help please and follow/subscribe to hear how shes going

They can indeed die if they stay broody for a long time, but longer than that, and it's unusual. Of course, every hen is different -- and they do all lose weight when broody. I used to lift my broodies off the nest at least once a day and prod them til they ate, drank and got a little exercise -- this was for the ones that stayed broody for 3 or 4 months. I neer lest one. I don't see why you can't do the same, in the hope she will also get up and eat when you are not there, so end up with a little more food. It might be a good idea if you have a handy scale to start weighing her at the same time every day and compare. I wouldn't put food too close to the nest, though, as they also need to move around some, to keep their muscles and joints healthy.

Yes, in general, it's the simplest way to break a broody -- let her complete the cycle by becoming a mama. But the OP is worried that she's been broody too long already to safely ask her to set another 3 weeks. Hopefully, this will not be too long, at all.

thx guys you have eased my worry - she is 2 days in on 13 guinea fowl eggs so fingers crossed

also how do i tell if the eggs are getting to cold underneathe her? we have 4mnth old chicks to 1 4 month rooster 2adult hens and 5-7 4month hens plus a few roo's we are trying to get rid of so how will they go when being introduced, we moved the hen because she was being pecked :/ thx again for the help and anyone i missed
