I hatched these little guys 3 months back and they’re the sweetest. I did the feather test with them when they were tiny and always thought the orange chick may be a cockrel while the dark ones are pullets but I’d like to see what others might think.
Hi everyone. I have 2 wynadottes that are roughly 14 weeks old. I’m just trying to sex them and am new to this so thought I would get some other opinions. Any help would be appreciated. I think they may be crossbred aswell. Thank you.
I know I have a Silkie and a Turken...but Im lost on the others! So many breeds have the same coloring. The black & white one has furry feeties if that helps! (Also Im hoping they're all hens!) Thanks so much for any guesses :)
I got two Lavender Orpingtons at a local feed store (they only order females from a couple of big hatcheries)
One really has the feather shredding going on ( I don’t mind it I’m just a backyard enthusiast) it’s very difficult to determine if they are male or female
They’re almost 14 weeks...
I’m finding several diseases with the same symptoms listed, can y’all help me narrow down what they have so I can treat appropriately?
Sneezing, head shaking, runny watery brown poops that are very smelly, puffy eyes and seemingly redder in the face in one of them.
I noticed sneezing yesterday...
I have a feeling that “she” is a girl but I am not sure. “She” has not started growing a comb yet or anything, it is incredibly small still. The only thing that confuses me is the tail feathers but I have read that you can’t really go by the feathering of an Easter egger. I can post more photos...
Purchased day-old chicks from My Pet Chicken, who have always had a great track record in properly sexing their chicks when I have purchased from them in the past. This little quartet is from hatch the week of February 8. Somehow, the Australorp cockerel passed as a pullet, and I cannot have a...
hi, I have a 14-15 week old Wyandotte. It started having comb/wattle redness at around 10 weeks and have gotten redder and more pronounced. There are one or two iridescent green feathers coming in the tail area. They don’t look sickle shape to me and I can’t tell if the saddle feathers are round...
Hi all members!
I have 6 chickens that are about 14 weeks. I have the nesting-boxes blocked up write now. I think I'm beginning to see some of my hens earlobes, comb, and wattles turning a deeper red. So I think they are close to laying their first eggs! So my question is:
When should I...
just picked up a silver laced Wyandotte.
She’s about 14-16 weeks old and nice and healthy.
I’ve started noticing today that she just keeps sitting. She will walk around (a little bit awkwardly) and then just sit down and eat.
She still jumps onto twigs and branches and even onto her small...
I'm new to keeping chickens and this summer I got my first chicks. Our standard chicks are 6 weeks old and our Serama chicks are 4 weeks and 5 days old. There are a few chicks that I'm questioning their gender. I will update this thread with pictures as they grow. Here are the chicks in...
I am attaching pictures of my silkie who is about 14 weeks old. I am taking my polish cockerel to be re-homed today because we can’t have roosters and we are now suspecting our silkie might also be a boy. Wondering if anyone can help me determine that with these pictures. My daughter heard a...
