I have a 5 week old chick and she was doing perfectly fine, intergetic. However he rnother rejected her so shes been in our brooder, and deemed Kitchen Chicken. Shes been there since she was born and we had to help her out if the egg because she was shrink wrapped. Shes far too small to be put...
We have 18 black australorp chicks- 5 weeks old. I know it's a little early to determine sex, but thought it might be fun to try. Technically, no more than 1.8 of these chickens should be male. But, you cannot have a partial bird (that isn't in freezer camp), so I will round to two. I think we...
Hi, looking for some advice please - do you think my Pekin Bantam 5 1/2 week old chick is a cockerel or pullet? Pics attached. All 4 of the chicks I have seem to be pullets but this one is confusing me. Thank you
I have an unidentified 5 week old chick and as many do, I’m hoping it’s not a roo. I know nothing about black maran but I’m guessing this might be one? It’s bigger then my other chicks I got and I feel like it might have been older then them because it feathered earlier then the rest. It, also...
Hello! First, thank you BYC family for all the assistance in helping us get our chicks outside comfortablely and sooner lol
Second, I know all these photos are not quite to standard and will try again in a week when they are 6 weeks--they were super excited to be outside lol - moved out today...
Hello everybody! My silkie chicks (bring raised by broody hen) have reached 5 weeks today. They hatched on the 8th/9th of June. I know they are still young, but what are your guys ideas on what sex they may be? I am thinking two roosters and one hen.
Hatch day and present day Pictures provided!
The large full tail feathers say hen, but the comb is starting to get pink so that tells me roo. It is also top of the pecking order (actually, the only chick I've seen throw a peck at another). Any thoughts from folks? It was supposedly vent sexed as a hen when hatched.
We have 4 Cochin chicks total, all 5 wks old, two mottled and a blue and a lavender. The blue is 100% a roo, biggest comb I’ve ever seen on a 5 wk old, and the lavender I suspect might be a roo too but has a significantly smaller comb than the blue. The 2 mottled (identical to the one in the...
Harriet is 5 weeks old. 1 week younger than the other 3 chicks, really spunky, nosy, always stealing food...feisty but sweet, and from Rural King.
Is Harriet a Harold?
I have a Deleware Chick that I'm having a difficult time sexing. (S)he has a lot of smut down her back, but (s)he is 5-6 weeks old and her wattle and comb look small compared to some images I've seen of 4 week old Deleware cockrels. (S)he does have thick legs, though. I'm learning towards male...
Hello, I need a little assistance?
He over gorged himself on food one morning 4 days, ago. He ended up with a blockage the same day, it took two days to get rid of the blockage.
I found plastic in the wood chips so I suspect it was the cause of the blockage.
I did the 24 hour wait to see if his...
