All are supposed to be pullets, and a few are a day or two older than the others. I’m suspicious of a couple of the lavender orpingtons so I’m wondering what others think. Orpingtons are about 7 weeks, Diamond Duchesses are about 6 weeks. Purchased at Family Farm & Home. All very sweet and sociable.
I hatched 10x chicks and they're currently a little over 7 weeks old. One is clearly a cockerel while the others are all hens (doubtful) or cockerels who have yet to develop signs. My one is a maran x olive egger and looks pretty scrappy compared to the others (feather issue or something else...
7 chicks alltogether, 7 weeks old. Pretty sure 1 and 2 are Roos. Not too sure on the others. What do you think?

I bought white rock chicks (and more) from McMurray Hatchery. They have never had orange legs. I would have assumed by now they should have orange legs at 7 weeks of age. Are these poor hatchery quality? Are they something other than white rocks?
I’m new to raising chickens, I got eggs from my friends farm incubated 24 ended up with 16 ): I will be incubating more once these lay eggs I’d like to have 20-25 hens and some roosters. I don’t know if mine are mixes or some pure would like some input. Also I feel like I have a lot of...
I got this sweet baby from a local breeder as a lavender Orpington. I was skeptical from the onset because I’ve seen enough lavenders to wonder about all the yellowy white fluff.
Anyway, the barring is consistent enough I’m thinking lavender cuckoo??
Also, gender is confusing me so. It’s very...
Hii! First time ever posting :D I got two almost 7 week old chicks that had been super slow to feather, and I fear they may be both cockerels. Their parents are also muts so it has been really hard for me to tell right away what are they :S is it still too early to tell or i'll have to think...
Hello! I was wondering if you guys had any though of what sex these SLW and GLW may be? I though only Chico may be a rooster but unsure. They are 7 weeks old.
I have two beautiful showgirl chicks I need to re-home. I got four and I just can't keep them all there around seven weeks. I'm not sure on the gender neither one has been outside but need to go out soon. If you're interested please let me know.
Hello! I am new here and have a few questions. We bought three chicks that are now 7 weeks old. They were sold to us as black Australorps. I believe that is accurate for the two black ones, (Peppa, and Bruce Wing), however I am stumped on the other one (nugget). Nugget is beautiful but his/her...
I have a 7 week old white leghorn that was a pullet but now she or he has this huge waddle and comb. I really hope it’s not a rooster I don’t want fertilized eggs and I have 30 females. Can someone please help? :) thanks in advance.
Hello All! Before I begin, I will mention I did attempt to search for this answer on here, but couldn't really find the answer in regards to our situation.
So this is our first flock and I have no experience when it comes to when is the right time to put my chickens out in our big permanent...
Hello Chicken Lovers!
Thought I'd share this bit of news with you, since I'm always seeing posts asking about when roos start to crow. This morning, when I was out in the coop, my July 18th batch of chicks were scurrying about, doing their chicken thing, and one of the little boys (they are...
Hi All,
I have already talked about this before and I have updated info. My baby chicks will be 6 weeks old and fully feathered this week. When they are 7.5 weeks old I would like to put them outside (temps high 45, low 25). Is a temp of 45/25 too cold for chicks at 7 weeks old? I am going out...
Hi everyone,
Pictured below is the very outgoing, curious, friendly, brave little 7-week-old chicken that we named Rooster ("Roo") for short. I know, not the most creative name. We hope she'll be one of the many pullets named Roo.
I started to have my doubts about her gender early on, because...
