    Developing eggs???

So I put some eggs that I had shipped into an incubator on Monday at 10am. I am brand new to incubating and have never done it before but have researches a bunch. It is now Sunday afternoon. I candled the eggs. I know darker looking yolks and veins are good to see meaning there is development...

Candling eggs- what does it mean when an egg is yellow vs red inside?

I candled some eggs from the same batch and the same flashlight, two bantam eggs were different colors inside. One was red and one was yellow inside when I candled them. They were refrigerated so they probably aren't very good for hatching but I'm curious why the two eggs are different colors...

(Duck Eggs) Can anyone tell me if these are still living or not?

Hi, New to incubation, I have 5 eggs, I've candled them all and 2 are moving by themselves but the other 3 don't seem to be. Just wondering if anyone can tell me if they are still alive or not as I've read that if you don't spot and remove dead eggs, they can explode. Thanks :)

Candling egg a quitter day 18?

Hi, this is my first incubation and the eggs are is pretty dark coloured (Maran), so for a first timer candling has been a little more difficult! When I last candled on day 15 I saw movement although now after candling today on day 18 before lockdown I'm not sure if it's still alive. The air...

    Goose egg candling help

Hey guys, So I received two goose eggs from my aunt three days ago. I set them in my forced air incubator Saturday night with the temp set to 37.5 degrees and humidity at 45-50%. Tonight will be day three of incubation. One egg looks perfect so far, besides a little bit of a weird air cell. But...

Do roosters stop being fertile completely eventually? 3 broody hens, no fertile eggs. Advise please.

We had a hen go broody which encouraged 2 others to go broody so now we have 3 broody hens. We have a rooster and would like to have the hens raise chicks naturally. This rooster has successfully given us chicks last year. We are trying not to interfere too much but have candled several of the...

    32 in lockdown

I just put 32 eggs in lock down this morning. My goal this year is to raise them through the whole process using only my wool hens. No artificial light, no heat source, other than the wool hens. I started out with 41 eggs. I only candled at day 10 and day 18. At day 10: I disqualified 3 eggs as...

    See nothing on day 5

Hi guys, I’m new to incubating. So I’m not really noticing anything in my egg. I’m thinking maybe it’s not viable? The photo is today on day 5, I can’t tell much difference. Is this egg not viable? Should I leave it longer? Many thanks.

Are there two chicks in this egg?! Natural incubation/hatching day 14-ish

I posted the footage here because I was just so excited to get her movement on camera, but am I going nuts or are there two chicks in here? Or is that just her absorbing the yolk? She should be a little over two weeks along.

    Candling First Baby Ducky Eggs!

Hi there!! Praise The Lord, we have set some baby ducky eggs for the first time! We set 6 eggs originally; 2 pretty white Pekin, and 4 Cayuga. The eggs were set on Valentine’s Day (Feb. 14th), so if I read correctly, that makes their hatch date Mar. 14th. I have researched and tried to gather...

Day 25 Is it dead or should I keep waiting?

I know someone whose been trying to hatch chicks with no luck. I visited him on day 23 and asked if I could have the one egg he hadn't tossed yet. I set up a temporary incubator in the bathroom as it's the only place I can get enough heat and humidity at the moment. There is no movement from the...

Day 7 Candling - Should we be further along? Is this OK?

My rooster is still getting the hang of things, but I've let my broody Silkie sit for about seven days and I am not sure that the eggs are doing much? I am letting her hatch naturally / no incubator as I live in the desert. Was just wondering if these look viable. I noticed the air sack is...
