Hi all, I’m hopeless with colour genetics but I’d love to have a go at creating silver (double laced) Brahmas. I was loosely involved with a silver Barnevelders project some years back, but I’ve completely forgotten the method beyond f1. We did silver pencilled over gold Barnevelder girls….. the...
Hi Color experts
This may be a simple answer but I can’t figure it out.
Can someone tell me the outcome of using a dark Brahma Roo to cover light, dark and buff Brahma hens. Obviously dark and dark makes dark, but unsure what the result is with dark Roo, light hen.
Thanks!!
Hello!
3 weeks ago I hatched a mixture of different breeds, and I got some Brahmas! I'm pretty sure I've identified a Gold Partridge baby and an Isabella one too. But I'm struggling to tell what colour the third chick is, does anyone have any ideas? Her fluffy down on her chest and belly is a...
I am freaking out.
I’ve had my doubts from the start, but I cannot own a rooster in my neighborhood.
Is this in fact a rooster?
17 week old “pullet” has been highly aggressive and mounting other hens. This morning has started full blown crowing.
I will attach some pics and hopefully a...
I currently have 3 Brahma Roosters (2 dark 1 buff) that I am looking to rehome from my group that are going on 15 weeks old. They have been pretty good around each other except the dark ones kinda worked together keeping the buff one at the bottom of the pecking order, pecking his rear big...
Hello all! This is my first post beside my introduction post! I am sure one of you guys will know the answer to this question! I am looking to see what color Brahma babies I have? I am thinking one is a light Brahma (Theodora) because she is white/yellowish with black tips on her wings - but...
I’ve never owned brahmas so if this sounds like a dumb question I’m sorry 😂 3 of 4 of my little brahmas (the other was hiding) what do you think buff, light or dark? The 4th is similar to the first a little grayer!
Curious to see how your chicks grew to look! Currently raising EE and Brahmas! Excited to see all the different colors and looks! Please post your chicks to adults! 🐥
Is this a cockerel? We got 4 “Pullet” dark brahmas for my mom on Mother’s Day but recently have began to wonder if Krenna here is a boy. They’re about 6-7 weeks old
We have 12 week old show quality standard dark Brahma cockerels, 3 in total. They have been handled since hatching and are quite sweet. They’ll eat of your hand or even join you on your lawn chair (Photo attached). I think they’ll make an excellent addition to a larger flock.
They are show...
6 and a half weeks old! Okay so I have done ALL OF THE RESEARCH. Hours upon hours of reading, looking at the birds, reading some more, and drawing my conclusions. From what I can tell, my Dark Brahmas are all pullets. None display any white patches on their wings, none have solid black feathers...
I have 8, 4 weeks old chicks. They're going to be split up between a friend and myself. Where we live we're allowed 5 hens or one Roo and 4 hens. I have all of them until they're old enough to be outside full time. Are any of them at a point where I can start asking for sexing help by sight? One...
Gave the 2 week olds a tasty treat today. HOLY COW they got excited over meal worms! My dog LOVES these birds. He gets upset when they're not with him and are in the brooder. He has to check on them ;) Best decision ever, to start a backyard flock. After snack time, everyone got to preening and...
Here are a few pictures of one of our light Brahmas. Assuming this is in fact a light Brahma (I’ve looked up other photos of them and I feel like I may have dark Brahmas or something else), I’m thinking this little one is a cockerel. He looks so different from the other four Brahmas we have. He...
Could someone help identify their genders if it is possible please? My dark brahmas are about 6 weeks old maybe a little less, I got them close to the first of April. There are 4 dark brahmas, 3 are currently outside and 1 is still inside with my wyandotte and two younger buff brahma babies. I...
Hey all!
It's nice to finally convince myself to join as I find myself browsing this website to find the answers to the many questions I've had about raising new babies! I browse mostly at work and don't have pictures here but I will find my way to the site on my phone and post some pics of my...
I have a 5 week old dark Brahma chick that has been getting picked on. I separated her, but she can still see/hear the other chicks. Today she seems better, but I am wondering if I need to do anything else for her. I am posting some pics of her. I am a newbie to the world of chickens and so...
