This one is about 6 weeks old. Buff Brahma Bantam. Any ideas on sex? I have one already that is for sure a pullet. This one just has a darker comb and wattles coming in. Thanks in advance :)
These two are stumping me. I've read conflicting sexing info regarding hackle feather shape, wattles and combs and I'm questioning if they are both roos because of this or just one of them or neither. One has rounder hackle feathers and a flat comb area with a wattle and they are very pink...
We were given a bunch of mixed breed chickens so we have no ideas on breed but we’re having a hard time sexing them so any help would be greatly appreciated! They’re around 3 months old
This is Thorin, the 18 week old EE. Thorin confuses me. S/he has never crowed or danced, but also is much more standoffish than his hatch mates that are hens... He is not colored like any of the other EEs i have either, hen or roo.... So.... Cockerel or pullet?
Attaching a pic at the end of my Ameraucana lavender hen, but the splash pretty sure turned out to be a roo. The pea comb is getting darker, and my kids found him mounting a hen today — 14 weeks old. That splash is a roo, huh 😞 I can’t have roosters where I live. Such a beautiful bird too!
Am...
Hi! I purchased this chicken today as a hen. I’m not expert, and of course, I’m one that can’t have a Roo because I’m in the city limits.
I was told she was a Porcelain Cochin Bantam around 5-5.5 months old. What do you guys think?
I’ve got two suspicious looking 15 week old birds here and I’d love to hear your thoughts.
These birds were raised by a hen, I am not sure what breeds they are mixed with. I got them at 12 weeks and they are now nearly 16 weeks. There has been no fighting or crowing but they are both at the...
First 3 pictures are Chicken #1, last 3 pictures are chicken #2.
They will be 12 weeks on Saturday. I picked them out SR, out of the 4 I picked out these two look and act a bit differently. The other two have much more obvious rounded tail feathers and a single comb. These two have 3 rows on...
I have 3 silkie chickens that are so different!
First pic is Bluey, I’m 99% sure this is a hen. She has no comb, no streamers, and just seems like a hen.
Picture #2 is Coconut. I’m 100% sure he is a Roo. HUGE comb and has streamers. And he has been crowing for maybe 3-4 weeks now. Super cute...
Howdy! First time chicken lady here, I’ve got a small flock of 5 that are 6 weeks old I believe. I know for sure one is a roo (not pictured) but I’m wondering about my other 4. I also need some breed help with numbers 1 & 4, number 1 is supposedly a Olive Egger and number 4 is supposed to be a...
Hi guys! I cannot tell the gender of my polish to save my life! i’ve suspected roo because of the crest and saddle feathers but then i convince myself it’s not ass roostery as the rest of my roosters. Help!
So, I still consider myself a new chicken mom even though we've had 4 hens for a year now. They were super easy, laid back gals and still are. However.... when we added 4 silkies to our flock... I started having ALL the questions. One of those questions is the same as every other silkie...
Hello all, new chicken mama Cassie here. I ordered 11 pullets from MMH that are now almost a month old, so of course I am now playing the paranoid “pullet or cockerel??” game. I thought I’d introduce the ladies and see if any of you experienced eagle-eyes notice something I hadn’t, especially if...
Pretty sure I know the answer but always good to get another’s opinion. They’re almost 5 weeks old but have pretty prominent bright combs and wattles already coming in. One seems to be getting more tail feathers like my buff orpington ladies. One cockerel we can handle but two I’m sure will lead...
These two are only about five weeks old but the comb and wattles are both pretty prominent already. One seems to have their tail feathers coming in like my two buff Orpington pullets. Anyone else want to take a look and give their opinion. One rooster we can manage but two I worry we will run...
Honey the chicken hatched on Boxing Day 2021. He/she is a Gold Laced Wyandotte. Honey has had respriatory issues since they were just a day old and as a result seems to have stunted growth. Honey is a bit smaller than his/her sisters and less filled out. They are not great quality wyandottes so...
Ok I know she’s still really young (2.5 weeks), so not sure if this is even worth asking at this stage… but does anyone think this chick is a he? She’s a blue egg layer - either an EE or a WTB (not sure as I got some of each in my order and they all look different). But the three-rowed comb, the...
They all look the same to me! I’ve known all along the white one was a roo based on personality and now he’s crowing so it’s confirmed. Pretty sure the black one is a pullet, but I’m terrible at gendering. Can anyone tell me what these 4 birds are? I’ve labeled them in the pictures for easier...
