Hi! My chickens are jumping on to our fence and then over into the next pasture. It is usually our rooster that leads most of the flock over, some choose not to go. I don’t love that they do this because then we have to keep our dogs from going outside.
The issue is once he leads them over...
old english game bantam
jumps over one of those huge brown fences
i have to go out and get him
its putting a lot of stress on me
i dont want him to die
what do i do
I need advice on breeds that don't fly well.
I don't have very tall fences (currently 4' chain link), as yet, and my chickens can jump up and over.
The funny part is they can't seem to figure out how to get back.
I have to open the gate and chase them back through.
The back fence is 6' wood...
I have cut the flight feathers from all 6 chickens, but a couple of them have gotten over our 5ft fence since. Maybe making sure I cut them properly is my next to do list. Is this the right train of thought? Should I do anything else?
