Hi everyone!
I suspect parasites or worms in my small flock of 7 hens. We just unexpectedly lost one of our girls yesterday, and the others are beginning to have pale combs, and lustreless feathers.
Does anyone have any suggestions for treating the entire flock as a preventative measure? I was...
Hi fellow Chicken People 😊
My orphington, Big Booty Judy, isn't feeling her best. She's lethargic and pale. I offered her electrolytes and probiotics, she drank it earlier but not now. I have looked for lice/mites but didn't see any (are they visible to the eye?). I also cleaned put the coop...
Hi, this is my second post about my spangled OEGB hen. She went broody for about a month and a half (because the chickens laid eggs on her for a bit and we just left the eggs that had already started developing and made a door only she could get through) She hasn't laid since then. It's been...
I just typed this up and it took me 25 minutes then it deleted
I have this spangled OEGB hen named Mustache Man (the name is a long story haha) but she had been broody for nearly a month and a half. The big chickens kept laying eggs on her until we put a tiny door there, so that's why it took...
One of my year and a half old black sexlink hens is sick. There is definitely something going on but I’m not sure what. She has been a bit lethargic lately, but still eats and drinks and gets around fine. Her comb and wattles are pale, and when I looked inside her mouth she had a nasty red spot...
My Australorp on the right hasn't been her best in the last week.
Her comb is yellow instead of red, moves slowly, hasn't been eating much (crop still filled but not super full), and has no energy to reach the roost at night.
No observable blood in stools. Stools look normal, with no...
Hello, first of all let me start out by saying I/we made a mistake by not writing this sooner and that is my fault, I acknowledge that.
Our flock consists mostly of jersey giant mixes and lives in an old stable rather than a coop. We had one jg rooster from a less than savory place who liked to...
Lately my 4-5 month old Belgian Duccle roo has been getting a pale comb. But oddly enough its when hes going to bed. In the morning when I let him out hes got a normal color and acts normal. Then when I check on him at night an hour after theyve been in hes super pink. No one else is having...
I am at a loss. I am losing hens and I think we've tried everything now except taking samples and a hen to the vet if we can find one in our area. I've lost 2 hens in the last 4 weeks and another one looks like she's going to die today. Here is what has been happening:
Note: They are free...
Watery diarrhea (seen both yellowish and green w clear whitish), somewhat lethargic, comb turning pale, not eating as much, drinking corrid solution 2 tsp per gallon because it seemed like coccidiosis. She is on third day of treatment and is now roosting but still doesn’t seem too much better...
Hi all!
Recently, our polish rooster has gotten a lot more sluggish and has began to take a lot of "siestas" during the day. Temperatures have been around 100 for the past few weeks, but he hasn't shown these symptoms until recently. Temperatures are starting to fall, and average around 95 on...
My hen is around a year old, and I have her in a pen with four other hens of varioud breeds. She’s the smallest hen and recently she’s been stuck on her laying spot, and I haven’t seen her eating or drinking when I’m around.
She also hasn’t been laying any eggs for over two weeks and has a...
II have a 2 year old speckled Sussex hen with an extremely swollen foot and no scab on the bottom. I don't think it's scaly leg mites either because her scales are fairly smooth. Her normally smooth feathers are super scraggly looking, her comb is pale and wattles are really thin. She limps when...
Hello, our oldest hen, Bertha, has been sick for the past week and a half. Before I brought her inside to be monitored and taken care of, she was just sitting by the entrance to the run. She would sit there for most of the day scrunched up with her tail down. Her comb was also pale and...
Looking for help for a Rhode Island Red hen (2.5 years old) who we found laying in the bushes today for much longer than usual. We noticed her comb had become pale and the area under her vent felt very swollen, her crop normal but on the empty side. I put on a glove with vaseline and put my...
Attached is a photo of my poor BLRW. This feather change and loss has happened over the last few weeks. She acts normal. She is eating, drinking and laying. We treated the whole flock for mites- she is the only one out of 10 that looks like this. I’m at a loss as to what is going on with her and...
Hello. My 1 year old EE hen started presenting an intermittently pale comb--if she was relaxing or hanging out in the run she'd be very pale but when I'd come in and/or bring treats she'd immediately turn red. She's eating, drinking, and pooping normally. Seems to have plenty of energy for...
Hello!
My dear Brahma Aster has a very pale comb. Can this be caused by molting? She's at the tail end of her molt (no pun intended). Or should I go ahead and treat for worms just to err on the safe side?
Some additional info:
1 yr old Buff Brahma
Eating, drinking, acting normally
Not laying...
Ok sorry for the long description and up comping post...here it goes... end of August I had what I believe was infectious bronchitis move through the flock. Lost 1 started treatment with terramyacin. Improved. Still a few sneezing etc. after several weeks I saw major improvement in egg...
Hello friends - I need advice! Our poor Andalusian Blue hen (Colette) did not come out of the coop today, is very lethargic, and most alarming, her usually bright red comb is very pale. She let me hold her for a long while and kept closing her eyes (unusual). She is not interested in food...
