    Staining the fencing

    Hello all! We just got a brand new fence around our backyard, and I'm wondering if it's safe to stain it with the chickens. We are planning to stain the fence, and then keep the chickens in their run for 3-4 days so they can't get to the fence. Is that okay?

    Made our first batch of Walnut Stain today!

    We have two Black Walnut Trees, and during October we collected more than 500 nuts that fell on the ground.I soaked them in water for two weeks, and boiled down 1/3 of the batch today. It yielded 12 quarts of beautiful stain! Totally psyched! Sample on right half of board:
