    I always buy straw and use it as nesting material and I use it for deep coop flooring. However my other half said use this hay! The horses won't eat it because it's been on the ground. So we moved it to the coop and it was moist so I've got it outside to flip it around and dry it out real good...

    Part dirt floor in run?

    I have a huge run for my small five hen flock. Half is straw and the other half is dirt. The feeders are in the middle. It gets afternoon sun and is sheltered from predators and rain. I'm not sure the dirt is good for them or if maybe I should put straw all over. They've never free-ranged...
