Well, one of our older Neighbors came to the meet. She rides I think both English and Western and she shows her horses. { She has an Andalusian Thoroughbred cross } My dad was talking to her and she decided to try and help me work through what was going on with Dez. I got up on him and she asked me to ride him in a circle around her. The other kids there kept galloping their horses right through our circle which made me really angry. And a 2-year-old was leading a mini around where i was riding too. WEll, he kept throwing all his weight forward and which made me bounce forward over his neck, a lot. He would randomly stop and try to follow the other horses. I was having a lot of trouble getting him to go all the way around a turn that was on the side where the picnic tables and some other horses and all the other people were. Well, he started side passing and he wouldn't turn and we nearly backed over my 4-H leader and we nearly ran over my other leader holding his 2-year-old daughter, he had to grad Dezi's bridle and point him in the right direction, then he slapped his rear, which really hacked Mrs. Linda off, i didn't even know he did it and he probably made the situation worse. Dez was jerking his head around, stopping, turning the wrong way, side passing, backing up, everything! People haven't really been paying much attention to me and Dez because I am more experienced and he used to do great. I don't think they really believed he was being as bad as he was. Well, last night they saw what I said was happening. I got to the turn again, and i just couldn't turn him. Mrs. Linda was telling me I couldn't give up and let him have his way but I COULDN'T! I started crying and she asked if she could get up on him. She got on him and he was so bad i was so scared he was gonna buck her off. He got to a point were he wouldn't budge and she popped his with the end of the reins, barely even touched him. He's really sensitive and he was abused, so that really grabbed him and he minded her after that one. The whole time I was watching her I was just thinking, I'm not the kid to handle him, your gonna have to sell him. But, I got back up on him and do ya know what? I think Mrs. Linda scared him more then she hurt him because he was responsive and we only had a few tough spots and I just had to barely move the reins to turn him and he was such a good boy, I know the Lord's hand was with us last night. I'm so happy right now I can't stop crying.
