*°Hell as White as Snow°* (A Role Play)

"Questions like, well...What did you do before this all happened? Before we ended up in this place?" Dierk asked simply and patiently waited for a reply as he continued walking determinedly.
"Well," Jade began slowly, looking down to her feet as she trudged through the snow, "The last thing I remember is running way from military school to be married."

"What was it like out there, yesterday?" Ian asked.

Madeleine groaned from where she lay, huddled under the blanket Janette had left her. It took her a minute to realize where she was when she awoke, but the other's voices soon reminded her. She was in a cave, with strangers, during a snowfall in a year no one was sure of exactly.

Nora looked at Ian when he asked her a question. "Well it was snowy, not much different then what's outside right now. It was eerily quiet, and still besides the weather. We didn't see any animals. The houses were just like everyone left one day. It was very strange, I am hoping we at least see some sort of animals out today. If we don't then I am afraid for what that means in the long run." She replied truthfully, she hoped they found more supplies in the houses today if not she was worried about how long they would last.

"At least there are houses," Ian said, shrugging lightly. "I'm not sure what kind of shape they're in, but they could potentially provide shelter."

Janette broke out of her reverie. "A few of us should go back to the people, see if anyone else is alive," she said softly, her gaze unmoving from the flames of the fire.

"Well," Jade began slowly, looking down to her feet as she trudged through the snow, "The last thing I remember is running way from military school to be married."

"Military school?" Dierk questioned, finding it odd that a woman would be in military school. It just seemed too masculine for his tastes. Though, the world was changing and had been for many years, very rapidly.
"Why were you in such a place, if you preferred to get married? That seems like something too rough, for a woman like you."
Dierk partially meant it as a compliment, and failed to see anything wrong with these words.

As Bobo slowly walked along the burning, icy earth in an aimless direction, he felt a sense of hopelessness.
Here he was, with an unconscious child in his arms, and no way to take care of her. And soon after she died, he would probably be next. There was the possibility that others were here, and they would be willing to help a slave, but those chances were slim. At least, he thought so.

As he looked to the sky, which was coated in a thick layer of white clouds, he wondered why this had all happened to him. Why was he taken away from his fatherland, why was everyone inclined to treat him so unkindly, why was his value as a human now lost, and why was he here?

How did he fall into such unfortunate circumstances? Was this really how the gods wanted him to live out his life? What did he do that gave him this fate?

But, still gazing at the sky, Bobo realized his luck may have changed, for there was a plume of grayish black smoke drifting calmly throughout the air in the distance. It stood out dramatically against the pure white background.

Bobo didn't know whether it was some sort of civilization, or perhaps a patch of land could be burning, which would be odd in such a cold climate, but either way he didn't care. Either there were people nearby, or there were actually plants that were large enough to burn, which could be a lifesaver.

Now full of just enough excitement to provide him with some sort of energy, he took a deep breath and broke into a full out run.
The cold and his sister slowed him down, but at least it was something. The running got his blood flowing, and his mind working, and brought his spirits up. He held his limp sibling tight against his chest, and hoped that in his clumsiness he didn't fall on the icy ground that was rock hard beneath this fluffy surface, for that would harm them both.

"Yeah I suppose, we can look them over when we head back there and see if any would be a better option then the cave. We can put it too a vote if we find a nice house on whether people want to move." Nora replied with a nod of her head to Ian. She looked over at Janette when she spoke, surprised for a moment. She was so quiet that she had forgotten entirely that she was sitting there. "That might not be a bad idea, maybe you could head that up? Someone should stay here though." Nora said to Janette, at least they had some plans.

Janette jerked her head towards Madeleine, who hadn't yet made it known she was awake. "One of us can stay. The other can head out to the ice blocks with whoever else wants to go," she suggested.

"A woman like me worked hard to be one of the strongest, and hardest working students at the school; of both male and female." Jade corrected perhaps a little harshly, taking a pause afterwards to calm her temper. His words brought about a memory of her step-mother's constant complaints of how weak and useless she was. "I didn't want to go to military school, but my parents wanted to send me somewhere that they wouldn't see me. Paxton was the only one to treat as a human, but even more than that he loved me. I wanted to marry more than anything else in the world, but knew that my parents wouldn't approve. That left us with only one option; to elope."

Dierk, due to his personal opinions, found that unlikely. Unless the young men in there had no motivation, but he didn't comment. He was much more opinionated in his home, Germany, but here he just wanted to get along and live.

"That seems cruel for them to do that to a young woman. I do not know you, but I have so far not experienced any reason why they would want you gone." Dierk commented sincerely, but his expression was still blank.
"And so yesterday, when you were so desperate to find a man you weren't sure was here, that was...Uh...Pexten?" He struggled to say the rather strange name with his accent, "Hopefully once we figure out this situation, you shall be able to go back home and find that man there, waiting for you like a gentleman should."
