Giving a quick intro. My husband and Phillip and I joined the same day.
2021 is our first year as flock owners. We began with 8 sweet baby chicks around a week old Along with our precious baby turkeys (2).
Then that Chicken math began to add up and we added 6 more chickens, 5 pullets and 1 $60 Ayam Cemani Roo ( 1-3 weeks old).
We then had a friend who was going to process her beautiful barred rock Roo who was the age of our first Gen. Our thoughts were, well we have 1 Roo and all of these hens… another can’t hurt!
Well it turned out that our second Gen of six were actually two Roos and four hens, with the Ayam Cemani being a HEN!
That brought us up to 3 roos and only 11 hens. We rescued two more hens ( one of which the owner was clueless! And the sweet girl has been going through a hard molt since we got her) and then purchased 3 more beauties.
That brings our total to 17 hens, 3 roos, and 2 turkeys ( one male, one female).
We also homeschool and have 3 kiddos of our own.
