My Coop
My Coop
Hello! :frow
So a few weeks ago, a fox ran off with my Cochin Bantam rooster... :hit:barnie

Luckly, my hen laid many of his last descendants. Unfortunately, my incubators were stored away and I was prepared for hatching. The eggs would loose there chance at hatching in 2 weeks, so I decided, if they’re gonna die anyway, why not put them in the greenhouse? It’s warm up to 100 degrees, and humid! So I did.. first 4 days and nothing was happening. (These eggs are almost white, so very easy to candle)... :)
No vessels, no spots, nothing. But today... something really freaky happened.. I candled a random one from the batch and this is what I saw; the air sac was bigger, (not too big) The was it is during the 2nd-3rd week. At the top of the egg, there was a huge dark spot. A big shadow like a day-14 embryo.. it wasn’t moving, and there were no veins or blood vessels. Not one. I checked some more and 8 eggs out of 3 Dozen had the same shadow. It looked just like a 2nd-3rd week embryo, (which is physically IMPOSSIBLE when it’s only day 5 or 6)... Freaky... :th

Does anyone know what this may be?? Anyone have the same issue?? Please let me know! I can’t find anything! I’m debating on whether or not o should crack one open and see...

I can try to get a pic tomorrow..

Please help me! :idunno

Your greenhouse is not equivalent to an incubator. It is also not equivalent to a broody hen. I suspect that you may have eggs that are going SPOILED.
I just posted this on another thread, so I easily accessed pix. Check and compare.
I am wishing best for you, but have doubts about success.
Sorry for the predator mishap. :hit
