Jake runs up to the dog.

Pandora hissed at Jake.
The dog growled and started to back away, slowly.

Jake sits down, to seem less threatening.

Julie and Lillian did the same.
The dog stayed a safe distance away, watching them.
Pandora relaxed and jumped on Jake's lap.

Jake pets Pandora.

The dog laid down but was ready to jump up and attack at a moments notice.
Pandora purred.
Julie didn't look at the dog.
