Polly walked regally through the doors of the ballroom. She was late, but she was the princess. Nobody but her mother could scold her.

Polly spotted the pastry table and flounced over. She noticed a handsome young cockerel at the other end of the table, so nibbling on a pink pastry, she made her way over.

Before Polly could reach the cockerel Daffodil grabbed her sister's wing. "Come on lets dance she chirped. "No rooster has gotten the courage to ask me. So we my as well have a go at it sis" she clucked grinning mischievously.

Lolly tumbled into the ballroom after her older sister. She was wearing a pretty copper dress and an anklet made of tiny jasper stones strung together. She looked around for someone friendly. As the orchestra started to play a slow, romantic song, her attention turned to a nice-looking cockerel.
(anyone want to play that cockerel? If Lolly were a human she would be 16, so naturally she is getting more interested in the cockerels.)
