How are quail? Raising, etc. If we go with something else at some point I think I’d rather try quail before 🦆
IMO, if you go into them expecting them to be like chickens, you will be disappointed. They are quite different in mannerisms and such. However, they are certainly not complex animals, and don't require massive resources to house. They seem to be good meat birds and layers, if you don't mind the small scale. I personally prefer them as pets. I like most of my meat to come from larger animals.

Quail are better than ducks!!!! I HAD ducks. If you don’t have a pond like a big one, don’t bother. I don’t care what anyone says.

They are kind of flighty but they do get used to you. They do fight, but I haven’t dealt with it yet maybe because I have a large area with a small number. They get mature early like 6+ weeks so that’s when they lay eggs. I’m enjoying them so far. They are really fun to hatch! They pop out like popcorn 🍿

Peroxide, interesting. I had heard of using a bleach dip, but not that. What temperature was your solution?
Just room temperature. I sprayed it on and let it dry. I learned it from someone on YouTube. Something redneck... he raises quail. Says the oxygen in the peroxide helps. I’m not sure if it’s true but I only used it on my friend eggs. I got a good hatch with it last time. This time I didn’t use it 5/40 ducklings hatched... I can’t say it was the solution but I know it wasn’t me or the bator. I have had 5 hatches that have been 90+% the past few months.

Huh! Interesting.

Oh I understand that. My eggs are normally not dirty at all. Only if a chicken happens to walk in something on her way to the box and has poo all over her feet. If I give eggs to anybody, I make sure they are clean ones (I'll keep the more dirty ones if there are any) and I always tell them to give them a rinse off before using, even if they look "clean".
My eggs are not normally very dirty anymore either...now that I have discovered the joys of using pine shavings for nesting material.😍
