Mine aren’t fat. I feed them layer feed and I give them veggie scraps after their dinner. I do have a very large run though. Mine forage a lot on the wild strawberries

FWIW chickens do enjoy them. A lot. Maybe too much. Jk. Unless it is a very small block, you would need to limit their access to the block or they will ignore their regular food in favor of the treat.

Refrigeration will inhibit bacterial growth in washed and unwashed eggs for up to 90 days.

I bought a few once for super cheap. And I know my dad buys one from time to time. Mine were put in the yard so the birds only had access during their limited free range time. My dad puts a box over the treat block and only the removes the box for short periods.
