FYI. I edited to add a tidbit as you replied here. (Sheepish grin)
No, it's okay. I'm a twit. I was assuming that since you're a self-proclaimed astronomy nerd you might have some kinda nerdy super-powers to help me find it... but it's okay... apparently, there's an app for that.

It's overcast so I won't see anything tonight.

Thank you, anyways :)

There's probably an app for the app, too.
Confusion? We've got an app for that, too.
... Sorry. There seems to be an app for nigh everything.
What is an app, anyway?

I'm not entirely sure, but I'm pretty sure my smartphone could figure it out. No wait---it's a blackberry...

:lau Super powers? Awwwe shucks no. I taught at our observatory for over 4 years as an undergraduate teaching assistant.

The area of the sky it's in currently is near/in Ariga (so) the charioteer.

Think of the northern sky like an umbrella. The panels of the umbrella stay put but, we rotate under them making it look like the umbrella moves.

Auriga is a reasonable detectable pentagon. There is a small group of 3 stars that make a "V" across one of the sides.

So... Just follow me for a bit okay?

Ursa major, Momma bear, is the big Dipper. Currently around the 9-10 o'clock position of the umbrella about sundown. Auriga is gonna be a bit below that.... Say 8-ish?

Polaris, the dimmer then we all expect 'north star' is the handle/rod of the umbrella.

So as the earth spins 24 hrs around this umbrella circle as it sinks in the NW sky around sunset and the tilt of the umbrella is ~34° above the north horizon then that's why it's not going to be below the horizon all night long..... So it should theoretically show up .... Depending on how long and bright the comets tail is.... It could start to be visible as early as 2:30AM as far north as you seem to be.....

How's that for a picture in words?
