I'll second this and I don't like heavy blankets. The Bara Singha hide I use is super warm but heavy. Unless it is real cold, I kick it off. Not as large as a buffalo, but larger than a whitetail.

You could also buy a beef hide. I see them sold for area rugs. Those are large. Ikea had sheep fleece, but you'd have to sew a couple of those together.

@muddy75 do y'all tan the deer hides? I've got a small collection and the kids are asking for them. Dad uses his for throw blankets. The trick is keeping the dogs from using them as chew toys.
I have a calf elk hide that is really nice. The moose hide is heavy but nothing like a buffalo hide.
