If you want to turn them loose, you will most likely have to get a release permit from your state.

We don’t need a permit for them. The DNR figures any quail released up here only a few months to live.

They have tried to establish bobwhites up here with very little success, only the Southie East part of the state has any and I think it’a only a few hundred birds

I am pretty sure that here they won't give a release permit for any of the quail that they consider exotics.
