When I first bought my property, I was planting a tree when I felt a sting. A wasp had gotten under my shirt. Then I saw one come out of a hole in the ground. Then a couple seconds later, another. Then another. That's when I decided I would come back another time to finish planting that tree.

Fill the hole with soapy water.

I have never had a sand wasp try to sting me, not even when I petted one.

I dumped a bunch of dirt down it and stomped down. I saw a few in the greenhouse when I was living in there and I was a bit extreme in exterminating every one I saw after one stung me while I was just sitting quietly working on my laptop.

That's a neat looking wasp. I have never seen that variety.

They are really big, solitary ground burrowers. The white ones are not as common as the yellow and black ones.

I had never seen any before I moved here.
