Is it cupped & sticky on top? If so, it's probably mildly toxic. Can't remember the name, but we have mushrooms that color (ranging from rosy to reddish amber) and my mushroom book says they're not edible.

The rest of the house is all electric. There is no natural gas here. While propane is an option, it would require the purchase of a storage tank, a propane furnace and likely a propane stove and oven.

Yeah, no natural gas here, either. The propane company provides the tanks for an affordable yearly rental, so...
