The cabinet incubator is still at the farm. Was getting only one or two chicks per hatch. Actually lost all in hatch. Either not enough air or temp spikes or too high a humidity. I removed the remaining vent covers and changed to hygrometer/temperature gauges.

I trashed my vent covers on hatch one.
I leave the holes open 24/7.

I am convinced people hatch with too much humidity throughout.

Do you have a separate humidity gauge you can salt test?

I can't say anything. I've hatched chickens 4 times this year. The last one 8 out of 11 with 1 infertile, 1 didn't pip and 1 the momma crushed as it was zipping. Pretty durn good. She hatched 2 out of 4. The others were in the incubator and transferred to her.

The last hatch has 7 cockerels running amok and the hens are complaining. I'm going to borrow @Conan 's bikini just so I can see a cockerel in a bikini being butchered since someone wouldn't share pictures. I don't know why she puts bikinis on them though. I think it has something to do with all the horror movies she watches. :pop

I'll probably butcher mine naked. :lau Wanna help?

Yes, that is what I have been using stuck thru a tiny hole in the side of the styrofoam. I brought them from the farm. Had to go get the other gauge.
I use both in the cabinet very successfully.
I use very low humidity numbers during incubation and hatch.
