When registering dogs, you have a long and unique name. Then they have the call names.

These may be the registered names that will be shortened to something recognizable and easy to say. Like Robert is bobbed to Bob. William is Billy.

“Tlaloc” can be Lay-Low and “Mictecacihuatl” can be Mike. But only amongst friends, you understand. In public, we use the formal names.
