I have a friend that has an old hen she used to raise her babies.
I think it just depends on the temperament of the hen.

I have mine set up so they can all see and get to know each other through a fence. Then I let them be together in the yard. And, when that is going smoothly I will open the chicken door between the 2 sides of my coop and let them mingle in the same coop and run.

I let the littles decide when they want to go sleep with the big girls.

With that many older hens then I would put several of the sweetest in if you cant't arrange for them to all see each other before hand.

Supervise because even the sweetest hens have seniority over the new ones and might not be so sweet to them.
