🐣🐄Black Copper Marans and Whiting True Blues. Lots of videosšŸŽ„

most of the black and white chicks in these photos are from the rooster in the last photo with the large modified pea comb and black copper marans hens with straight combs. The rooster is the only barred bird in the flock.
What @NatJ said. I have a harder time with anything other than straight combs tho unless they're blantant obvious.

Last pic tho, I'm pretty sure that's a male...75% positive. 🤣

In that case, barring definitely does not tell anything about the sex of any chick.
Nice to have that ruled out :)

I believe to be sex linked it would need to be the hen that is barred with a non barred bird. Boys would be barred. Roosters pass barring to both sexes but if you keep a barred hen and cross to non barred then you get barred males.
I’m planning on keeping the barred olive eggers pullets to hopefully backcross them to a black copper marans rooster to make sex linked BC1 olive eggers.

Third possum this week.

I started feeding the chicks inside this little protective circle of garden fencing. It keeps the big chickens out of their food and not scratching and wasting.
