I have a buff sussex chick, just over 2 weeks old
The comb seems to have grown very fast, and i know this is prob way to early to tell;
but does anyone think the comb size at this age is a clear hint that it is a cockerel?

I'm desperately hoping it's a pullet, as it is the only BS chick that hatched out of 6 shipped eggs...
What does everyone think?

sorry, the pics aren't ideal, i know :rolleyes:

Not 100% sure but the comb is quite pink for a pullet so i would say cockerel.

😬 yup i noticed that... but the beak and legs are pink and so is the skin underneath the fluff; so might that have an effect on the colour of the comb before it reddens?

That an awfully big comb for 2 weeks...

:hmm i know, thats what i thought
i thought it was a cockerel, too - pain cos i already have too many chicks that look like cockerels out of my hatched batch

I'll wait and see, and post updates if i can

I’m not sure sorry, the comb is quite large however which is why i would also say cockerel. 2 weeks for a pullet should be quite a bit smaller. Legs are also quite thick in the 1st pic.
