It is. Is everyone there taking it as seriously as they should?
I don't know. What I do know is the virus hasn't got very far yet.
The US has similar problems to Spain with regard to a number of things.
Here there is little doubt that the federal nature of Spain and the lack of investment in the public health system is killing people. The US doesn't even have a health system as such.
If the virus gets a firm footing down South, what's happened in New York will seem not to bad.
Some people seem to think the virus is going to go away after it's killed a few people. It isn't.
It's going to be a major health risk until a vaccine is found. What do you think the chances are of vaccinating the entire population of the US, or even the majority?
Meanwhile, much like here the economy slides into a state where recovery will take years.
A full scale economic depression is not a fun day out. People will have a lot more to worry about than having something soft to wipe their arses on.
I could go on for quite a while about the various problems. Not a problem for me, but for all those American Nationalists the rise of China and possibly Russia as the dominant wold powers is not going to please them.
The US isn't used to looking outward and here in Southern Europe and most of the rest of the world the US doesn't have a lot of fans.
Add to this the current president of the US isn't very intelligent and not very stable and you have a potential tantrum thrower. That starts wars.

Local police (to the biggest town near me) just broke up a party last weekend on campus! None of the college brats are taking it seriously at all.
They don't really need to. Despite the "a young person died from the virus" drama stories, most young people (below 50) will recover. The statistics already bear this out. Of course they may infect their families and others. But, from what I've read part of what makes this virus dangerous is you can have it and not be aware of it. This is partly what is responsible for it's rapid spread. It's the rapid spread that is causing the health care problems.

You would need to read up on what is going on with the oil price war.
Briefly, OPEC and the US cannot compete with Russia who can produce oil at $10 a barrel.
Neither OPEC or the US can match this. This makes US oil worthless.
This is the negotiations that some press are talking about between Putin and Trump.
