Emmit's steak resembles my boots.
You had quite the adventure!Evening all! This past Friday I had 4 Black Cochin (LF) eggs in the little Mini due to hatch, but only one hatched on Friday. When I took the little tyke out I checked the other eggs, and one was pipped at the wrong end and couldn't free itself, so I removed some shell and put it back in, checked an hour later and it still hadn't been able to free its head, so I did that much and said, "Self, remember, if a chick is too weak to push out of a shell, it's probably not going to survive; leave it be from here, it will either finish hatching or it won't." Meanwhile I'd put the loner into a brooder and it was noisily telling the world how unhappy it was to be alone. I went to town to do the shopping, stopped at TSC for feed and shavings figuring on picking up a roomie for the loner, and they had no chicks. On the way home I stopped at another local feed store, and lo and behold they had plenty of chicks, all pullets, so I selected an assortment of 3 and brought them home to be company. DH was highly suspicious when I told him I only got three, because the store only had gigantic boxes left, but soon reassured himself that was all I hadA little Wyandotte I think will be blue or splash but I've raised only a few Wyandotte's so we'll see, a chipmunk-marked chick I figure (hope) is probably a Brown Leghorn, and a pale yellow/white chick I think is probably a White Rock or Leghorn/Austra White, seems too stout to be a Leghorn but time will tell. Little Cochin chick quieted right down. Meantime the stuck one had gotten itself out, had a curled up foot that is straightening out with a little help from self-stick-tape booties that don't stay on more than 4-5 hours but three of those seem to have straightened the curled toe out quite a bit and it's getting around, eating and drinking, so I think it may be okay. Other two didn't hatch, not sure why, looks like they died right before internal pip.
It has been YEARS since I had hatchery pullet chicks, I had low expectations, but they are doing great, not aggressive as I feared, settled in immediately, and all seem happy so far. I'm glad I made my weekly trip to town so worthwhile - I had wanted a few extra pullets this year that aren't for anything but laying eggs, so I got my wish. This store gets their chicks from Privet in New Mexico, so they don't travel far.
It must have been a huge one!I bought a lasagna at Costco come to find out it cooks for 2 hours what the ?![]()
Nah, it’s easy if a little time-consuming.Is it hard to make?
