What a cutie, how do you manage to keep your chicken's white feathers so clean???!!

I sometimes wonder myself. They love digging through the horse stalls and picking through fresh horse poop 😳

But I also have lots of wood shavings so that likely helps, and naturally sandy soil here.

I have found that dry sand and shavings are the best for horses and chooks.

Don’t get me started on pine sap though - ugh! It sticks to everything and is miserable to pick from horses manes and chickens feathers. Oh and human’s hair!

He was a huge gorgeous sweet boy, I gave him to a family who loved him dearly, unfortunately about 4 or 5 weeks ago he was killed - likely a hawk/eagle attack.

At someone’s suggestion, I suggested trying to hatch some eggs from his hens. We weren’t sure it would work, it had been 3 weeks since his death. But I checked eggs for them on Wednesday and there are 6 definitely and 4 maybe eggs! My neighbours are thrilled and I am too.

RIP and fly high and free Sir Shirley

oh my gosh!! yuck! My chickens sometimes dig in dog poop and I wonder if maybe I shouldn't let them go on my back and groom my hair after all.....

I am so sorry for your and your family members' loss, he sure was handsome and looks like he would attract all the ladies😁 And I hope you get chicks! If you decide to incubate them!

Alright everyone, in total we have 12 bantam entries and 11 standard entries.
My sister (second judge), is away doing an archery class or something so I am going to have to text her and ask if she'll be back in time tomorrow to help me judge, and if not, I guess I'll just do it😄 heheh
