😩ducklings won’t be quiet

I have six ducklings and they are in a bedroom that is off of our main room right now. They are quiet as can be during the day and at night they scream their heads off. I’m awake all night long. I’m not sure what to do here but I can’t have them screaming like this every night until they can live outside. I’m going to lose my mind and my poor husband goes to work early and gets home late and I’m sure the last thing he wants is screaming ducks all night long.

What is different at night? There has to be something. Figure out what it is and change it, and hopefully they quiet down.

Nothing is different at all other than we’re all asleep (trying)... and they aren’t I’ve just been in there three times over the past house and they’ve emptied their gallon waterer three times... not drinking it....just emptying it all into their brooder. I got sick of it and turned heat lamp off so they quit playing in the water and it’s worked so far they’ve been quiet a whole five minutes!

A heat lamp...I just turned it off and they miraculously shut up. Maybe they are confused by day/night because the lamp was on? I can’t let them swim before bed because it’s a huge process and we only have one tub that’s connected to my sons room .he’s 1.5 and he takes baths at night and after he goes to bed it would be too loud in the bathroom to let them swim at night .

Maybe try a brooder plate instead of a heat lamp. Then they will be up when its light, and sleep when it's dark. Hope they don't get cold now that the light is out.

You could also move them to the garage or basement.

They are inside my house it’s 70 or above they are old enough to not even need a lamp I just had it on because I’m overprotective but I think it’s time they stop making so much racket at night, the lamp stays off. Maybe they will feather faster and I can get them outside.

Yes, that will help and the dark will tell them it's time to sleep. Natural light cycle is better for them anyway.

How old are they? If they are younger than 4 weeks I would highly recommend continuing to provide heat at night even if your house is at 70. Though I do agree that a natural daylight schedule is optimal.

What kind of waterer do you have? A lot of us have success with putting rocks in a water container so it can't be tipped. I used a gallon juice jug and cut duckling sized head holes in it. This way they could get their entire heads submerged but not climb in their water container to swim. My duckings never spilled it.
