I start separating as soon as I can tell genders with coturnix. Buttons aren't nearly as aggressive, so I let them stay together until or unless conflict starts.

I read that buttons need heat for 5 weeks, is that not true?You want to start raising the brooder plate within a few days. By the time they're 3 weeks old, they should be completely comfortable at room temps, and by 6 weeks old, ready to go outside.
If daytime temps are 13, I'm going to assume that it's colder at night. I wouldn't kick them out until they're around 5-6 weeks old. They can go out earlier if the temperatures are warmer.

I raise bothThe colors on these birds as well as the size in the person's hand compared to the feathering growth is coturnix, though you're right-some of them are pretty small! I'd double check that the the three Falb Fees are getting enough food and heat.
I would not free range quail they are fast at flying away.Thank you, this is basically exactly what I read, with maybe an added week here or there. Am I right that the two red and blue are male? Also, is anyone able to confirm what the colours are called.
