We have a large flock of sexlinks. In the past few months, we will have a chicken just die for no reason. Just 2 birds this morning. They all seem happy and healthy eating and drinking, like they are supposed to. What could be making our birds die like this for no apparent reason? thanks for the assistance.

Went to the store yesterday and boutght some duramycin- 10. They said it was okay to give use the eggs, but it clearly states not for use in turkeys or chickens producing eggs for human consumpution. Now we don't know what to do. Would appreciate any advise. thanks

My local feed store printed out a statement from the Durvet company regarding poultry:

"Duramycin 10

Small dose directions for turkeys and chickens

Following is the smaller dose directions for chickens and turkeys.

For Prevention - One teaspoonful to 2.5 gallons of water. Run this as the sole water source for 5 days then go clear water for 7 days. If symptoms still persist, repeat this regimen. At the treatment level, tetracycline can be a bit bitter to taste. Put a pinch of strawberry or cherry Jell-O in the water to mask the flavor.

Let us know if you have any further questions.

Durvet, Inc."

Also some further research from a blogger who actually contacted the company said wait 21 days after the last dose of antibiotics before eating the eggs. I have read somewhere on BYC that you can feed these eggs back to the chickens so they don't completely go to waste. Hope this info helps

Oops! forgot to add the rest of the statement from Durvet, Inc

Sorry for your losses, but if another dies, you should have a necropsy done. Many states, like California, do them for free or a small fee. If you're in the US, call your State Vet and find out where you're supposed to ship them. UC Davis, the lab I use, lets people use their FedEx account number to save on shipping.
