We have 6 week and a half old ducklings that we moved out to our shed yesterday afternoon. Do they need a heat lamp during the day? Daytime temperatures are about 80-85 degrees. I have the heat lamp on at night as it gets down to about 55-60. I don’t want them to get too hot during the day, but I keep reading they will move away from the heat if they are hot. Since they are in a shed with a small window open for ventilation I didn’t know if that changes anything. Thank you!

If the temps in the shed are 80-85 they don't need heat on. If they have room to move away from the heat that is best but the shed may get too hot if your having temps that warm outside. Def use heat at night still. use a thermonator to check your temps in the shed and go by that. By 2 weeks 80* is a good temp if they are out of drafts and weather like rain.

One thing I would not do unless you keep the heat on is let them get wet but if you do decide to let them have water time Pat them dry and put them under heat until they are dry then turn it off for daytime. Having water time in something shallow and under supervision will also get them preening and oiling their feathers so eventually they will be water proof
