I dunno, I know a few country-bred people who would scratch their heads at what we spend on a chicken coop, much less the fancy breed chickens!

I scratch my head all the time at how fancy people make their coops and how much money they spend on them here!

Now chickens though, chickens I am up for paying about a hundred- couple hundred dollars a bird for. But even then I draw the line at a certain amount, odds are I could find better stock cheaper If I looked long enough.

"More recently, however, they have become highly-prized status symbols for China's new rich. The dogs are thought to be a pure "Chinese" breed and they are rarely found outside Tibet, giving them an exclusivity that other breeds cannot match. "

When something is prized, regardless of what it is, then the price is dictated by the market. Any thing is only worth what someone is willing to pay for it. Look at some of the birds that get sold, thousands of dollars for breeding pairs. For hatching eggs?

To each his own.

I'm sorry but for people who know dogs, they know that indeed is a pretty amazing dog. . . If someone who wasn't very into chickens saw the things we bid on, they'd think we're just as crazy. Consider that most people don't even know that you can make more than $3 a dozen off of chicken eggs.

Sure, I'd never spend that much on a dog, but I'm sure there's lots who would. I for one have never seen a Red Tibetan Mastiff before. . . I believe that color is like having a Chocolate Ameraucana. ( I'd call it a mint chocolate bird!
