My first round of chicks are 6 weeks old today and the two Faverolles we got as 2 week old pullets are now 7 weeks!

I picked up three more Easter Eggers last week since I'm pretty sure my 1st Easter Egger is a rooster, they are 1 week old today!

We're almost done with the coop and plan to move the older chicks out of the garage (thank goodness) and into their new home this weekend.

When and how should I integrate my 1 week olds? obviously they can't go out until they are fully feathered I know that. Right now their brooder box is right next to the pen with the older chicks, but they pretty much ignore each other. They've seen each other a few times but they kinda just stare at each other like, what the heck is that? The older chicks are a true flock it's so funny when I take them out to the yard they are terrified unless they're all together and then they are brave.

I thought I might keep an eye on craigslist and try to pick up an animal pen on the cheap side (disinfect it obviously) but if I got one big enough then I could put it in the run and put the younger chicks in there during the day once they are feathered for about a week or so and maybe start putting them in the coop at night after a couple days of that, is that a fairly good plan for integration?
