A run is the part that is attached to the coop (which is the part where they sleep and maybe lay).

The wire covered portion -the run - is the part that they can spend time in during the day to protect them unless you are able to free range them -let them run around your property.

in my opinion i think you'll need roughly the same amount of room for 2 chickens as you would for one. i'v never measured stuff out, you kinda get a feel for it after a while and every house is different.

Chuckzoo...that's an adorable set--up for two chickens!!!

Kaidan - did you hit the link and look at it??? A little 3x4ft coop (housing) would be great...with an attached run maybe 4 x 5ft (bigger if you can). Be sure your coop has a chicken door than can be latched at night to avoid predators. And use stronger wire than chicken wire on the run if you can.

If you're pressed for space you can "go vertical". Here's a coop I just built, a tiny "chicken tractor" type setup. All materials bought new and cost me just under 100 dollars. If we move it once in a while, it keeps the chickens amused and interested. On small pens like this, it's generally best to keep it just hens, since a rooster with only a hen or two in a small area will be hard on the hens.
