1 egg on Tuesday, now none??

I have 2 hens that I know are laying, and do so every day. Tuesday we had a third egg (darker brown, not pinky brown like the usual egg) and now there hasn't been a 3rd egg since. What gives?

Just starting out? It takes a while to get up to speed. Not all breeds are machines that just turn on and go full out.

I figured every other day or by day 2. The other 2 skipped a day or two in between but it was just the one for the 3rd egg. Hidden nest?

That is always possible with free birds.
