I have a very handsome OE banty rooster. This winter my barn was invaded by rats. I put "One Bite" out, and with in 3 weeks I had over 100 corpses. I didn't see any more but 2 weeks after, they returned for 1 last rade. They went into cages and killed a hen with her young family, and went into this boys cage and chewed on his foot. When I found him the next morning, I bathed the food, and treated with Rx. The foot was in a club form and collected debris, so after washing I wrapped it. Then I decided to try putting a dowel between the toes, thinking I would get the foot to open. After 3 tries, it was getting difficult changing the dowel. I was thinking what if the foot came off... Well I no sooner finished my last thought, and sure enough............. He didn't bleed much. When I change his bandage he continues to bleed. I'm afraid to leave it uncovered. Has anyone else had such an injury to their bird?

If it's still bleeding, use pressure and a bit of flour or corn starch til you get it stopped.

I've read of a number of chickens who have survived with one leg, hopping about. So sorry this happened to you.
