So I went out to collect my eggs yesterday and I found this very thick shelled wrinkly egg in the nest box from my Pullet Golden Laced Wyandotte, she has been laying for about 6-7 weeks ... and in that time she has laid 3 HUGE eggs.... doubler yolkers I'm guessing... I can't bring myself to crack them open......
I remember seeing pictures of eggs like this before on BYC.... So I was about to come up to look it up but needed to put food in coop for my broody...
When I looked in the coop I saw this egg on the floor of the coop ....
It is hard to tell from the picture but it has no shell .... the yolk is just covered by the membrane!! As she seems to have a few assembly line kinks will they work themselves out??? She has laid a normal egg again today .....
Here is a picture of the 2 eggs next to each other for better contrast....
They are given oyster shell and layer feed as well as yogurt & dark leafy greens ..... Her shells are usually very hard!!!
What do you all think???
Thanks!!
