My Babies arrived yesterday. As I moved them out of the shipping box I noticed 1 baby chick injured. Looks like this foot or middle toe could be broken … some light swelling and redness. The chick seems very healthy other than that but the foot so DW decided to make a chickie splint. We will see how that works after a week or so.

Before the splint the chicks foot curled under and walked on the top of the foot. My thoughts are if she cannot walk on the bottom of her foot then she should be culled so we will see what happens after some time.

Any other experiences ?

You can see the slint here. We had to redo the tape but seems to work well now

The chickie looks comfortable with the rest of the crew.

You are doing your best. Hope that you won't have to cull.

Kudos to your wife's efforts.

BTW - that's a LOT of future eggs!!
