Hi. Recently I lost my only female hen, Shadow. I have a pair of courtenix quail. Leaving me only with the male, Sonic. He hasn’t taken the loss lightly. He crows so much for her and always looks for her. I have been trying to give him dust baths as a distraction which works for a bit. I’m not able to get another hen. Is there anything else you guys would consider for distractions for him? And at the moment we’re in horrible heat are there any other ways other than a fan I can have for him? I feel that that’s how I lost Shadow. He has access to two water containers which I put some ice in and a sand which bag I filled with ice. I got that idea from a family member so I have no clue if it will really work. But if there’s anything you guys suggest for both these please help me out.

I'm not sure what to recommend other than getting more hens, but hopefully other people will have more, and more suitable, ideas for your situation.
I also have a male coturnix quail living by himself, but there is a cage of 2 females very close by, so he knows he isn't all alone. He does still crow a lot at night, though.

Thank you. Glad to know I’m not the only one in this type of situation sorta haha.

Unfortunately, quail are flock birds and need others of their own kind to be happy. Is there a reason you can't get him some hens?
I don’t exactly have the time anymore to give him another hen. Plus I incubated those two so the possibility of getting another female is 50/50.
