Last night as I was doing my chicken chores I noticed that some of the poop in the coop is solid & some looked more like diahhrea. What could this be? Any advice on what I should do? I recently changed their water from our rural water to our artesian well water. Could that be part of it?

is it diarrhea or is it CECAL poo? about one out of ten droppings are cecal poo and they are extremely stinky and runny looking and this is perfectly normal. that said if she does have diarrhea may I suggest using a probotic in there water? when my chicks were small I was getting pasty butt. I bought a probotic called probios off line. it worked wonderfully! I still use it to this day for my whole flock. they never got pasty butt again and cured it right up. it contains live bacteria that are the good bacteria. the good bacteria sets up housing in the gut and can actually fight off the bad bacteria that gets introduced into the gut. just as probotics are good for people they are equally as good for chickens. replenishing the gut with good healthy bacteria. keeping the intestines healthy. I buy my product online at WWW.probios.com. a jar is around 12 dollars and lasts a good long time! I use one teaspoon per gallon of water. its good for chicks and adults alike. I've been very happy with this product! you might give it a try and I'm certain it will balance your birds intestinal health. I hope this helps out some. even if it is cecal poo and not dirrahea it still is very good for the flock. best wishes!
